Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) are issued in conformity with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)
standards.
MRP office operates on the principal of live data capturing so applicants’ presence (with required documents) is compulsory to process the application.
Applicants’ data entry, photo, signature and thumb impression capturing are done by trained MRP staff using latest technology.
Requirements for applying for a New MRP or Renewal of MRP
Applying for New or Renewal of Machine Readable Passport
Machine Readable Passport (MRP) system uses the data from National Database and Registration Authority’s (NADRA) system and MRP application can only be processed if applicant has following valid original documents:
- Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC); or
- National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP);or
- Smart National ID Card
- Computerized Child Registration Certificate (CRC/Form B) for under 18 years applicants only; and
- Belgian/Luxembourg Resident card of proof of residence

Machine Readable Passport (MRP) application processing requirements are different for adults and children. Please go through the relevant section carefully before visiting the Embassy.
Requirements for Adults’ (18 years and above) application processing
- Personal appearance of the applicant
- Production of one of the following original valid NADRA Cards along with its photocopy:
- Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC)
- National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP)
- Smart National ID Card
- Original previous Passport with its photocopy (for renewal applications)
- Original valid Belgian/Luxembourg visa (Visa sticker or Biometric Residence Permit Card) or Belgian Passport along with its photocopy
Notes:
- Married female applicants are required to produce original CNIC / NICOP / Smart National ID Card containing their husband’s name. They would otherwise
be required to get their CNIC / NICOP / Smart National ID Card modified in accordance with their marital status before applying for MRP. - Pakistan Government employees are required to produce original No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued within last ninety (90) days by their respective
Ministries / Divisions / Departments. - The dual nationals, while applying for first ever Pakistani passport will be required to be verified by the concerned agencies in Pakistan. The dual
nationals are however advised to bring photocopies of their Pakistani parents CNICs / NICOPs.
Requirements for Children (below 18 years) application processing
- Personal appearance of the applicant
- Applicants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by either one of the parents
- Production of one of the following original valid documents along with its photocopy:
- National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP)
- Computerized Child Registration Certificate (CRC/Form B) issued by NADRA
- Previous Original Passport with its copy (for renewal applications)
- Parents Pakistani Passports, ID Cards and valid Belgian/Luxembourg visas (Visa sticker or Biometric Residence Permit Card) or Belgian Passports with photocopies.
- Detailed birth certificate containing both parents’ names on it and its copy
Note:
In case parents are separated or divorced, the custodian father or mother is required to produce court orders confirming his/her legal right of custody of the child.
Additional requirement for Dual Nationals
Dual Nationals are required to bring a photocopy of their Belgian passport or other nationality passport along with all other required documents.
Application in the event of Loss of Passport
In case you have lost your Passport, you can apply for reissuance of your Machine Readable Passport (MRP).
Following documents are required for processing an application:
- A photocopy of Lost Passport
- Copy of valid Belgian/Luxembourg visa
- Police Report containing Lost Passport Number
- Production of one of the following, original and valid NADRA Cards along with its photocopy:
- Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC)
- National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP)
- Smart National ID Card
Note:
In case of a lost passport application, MRP shall only be delivered after the verification of the previous MRP/Manual passport from the concerned issuing authority in Pakistan or Abroad, which may take a month or longer.
MRP Process Flow
Process Flow for Machine Readable Passport (MRP) Application/Processing
- On your arrival, please get token and wait for your turn.
- You will be called for documents checking at MRP counter. If documents are complete, a bank voucher will be issued for fee payment.
- Deposit the required at the bank counter
- After fee payment, wait for token issuance, digital photograph and finger print capturing.
- Data entry will be done according to NADRA record.
- You will be interviewed by MRP Officer and collection date will be given at the end of the process.

Above-mentioned delivery times are estimated. Some deliveries may be delayed due to particular application circumstances.
We do offer passports with 72 and 100 pages for frequent travellers (additional charges will apply). Please let MRP staff know if you need one of these passports.

Collection of your MRP
MRP Collection
Applicants need to collect their passports in person. However to facilitate the families, only one family member can come to collect the MRPs issued for all his / her family members.
Compulsory action to be done after collection of your MRP
After collection of MRP each holder is required to put his signature or thumb impression in the given box on page 2 of the passport. In case of minor, thumb impression of the child is to be affixed (Female = Right Thumb, Male = Left Thumb).
Important Note:
All applicants are advised to collect their passports by the due date. Passports not collected a month after the collection date will be destroyed as per existing policy.

Child Endorsement on MRP
Child Endorsement on Machine Readable Passport (MRP)
Machine Readable Passport (MRP) is issued in conformity with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.
According to the ICAO standards child endorsement is not allowed on parent’s passport. Therefore child endorsement will not be done on the parents’ machine readable passport. Instead of this; children (even under 18 years) will be issued a separate Machine Readable Passport (MRP)
