The Embassy of Pakistan Brussels organized an event about Pakistan’s adventure Tourism, to mark successful Belgian expeditions of K2, Nanga Parbat and Broad Peak at the chancery today.
The Ambassador of Pakistan to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union, Dr. Asad Majeed Khan welcomed the participants to the Embassy.
The participants included renowned Belgian mountaineers, Stef Maginelle, Sofie Lenaerts, Niels Jespers, Luc Beirinckx and Wouter Noterman, who had recently climbed K2, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum I & II and Broad Peak, as well as a group of trekkers who will be undertaking trekking expedition in Pakistan next month.
In his remarks, Ambassador Khan highlighted Pakistan’s potential as one of the most attractive tourism destination in the world. He elaborated that Pakistan has the most beautiful and undiscovered touristic sites with huge untapped tourism potential. He explained that Pakistan’s tourism industry has significantly developed with improved touristic infrastructure and visitor facilities.
Referring to the recently released report by the World Economic Forum (WEF) last month, Ambassador Khan highlighted that Pakistan has moved six points up in the International Travel and Tourism Development Index 2021. The index ranks the countries based on the set of factors and policies that help stable and sustainable growth of the travel and tourism industry in each country, he added.
He said that the expedition of the Belgian climbers will be a source of inspiration to local and international travellers especially mountaineers, trekkers and adventure tourists.
During the event, the climbers shared their personal mountaineering experiences at the K2, Nanga Parbat, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I & II, Biafo Glacier and Snow lakes in Karakoram Mountains as well as their interaction with the hospitable local population from the area. They also shared video presentations of their mountaineering expeditions in Pakistan.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Niels Jespers said that K2 is the most attractive Peak in the world and for him climbing K2 was a huge dream coming true with extreme pleasure and excitement. In her remarks, Ms. Sofie Lenaerts said that the biggest reward of their visit to Pakistan was the connection which they made with the most friendly and hospitable local people of Pakistan. Whereas Mr. Jens said that “Pakistan is a hidden gem with amazing hospitality and mysterious attractions. “
The event was arranged as a part of the diamond jubilee celebrations of the 75th Independence Day of Pakistan.

پاکستانی سفارت خانہ برسلز نے K2، نانگا پربت اور براڈ پیک کی کامیاب مہمات کی مناسبت سے پاکستانی ایڈونچر ٹورازم کے حوالے سے ایک تقریب کا اہتمام کیا۔
بیلجیئم، لکسمبرگ اور یورپی یونین میں پاکستان کے سفیر ڈاکٹر اسد مجید خان نے سفارت خانے میں شرکا کا خیر مقدم کیا۔
شرکاء میں بیلجیئم کے نامور کوہ پیما، سٹیف میگینیل، سوفی لینارٹس، نیلز جیسپرس، لوک بیرینیکس اور والٹر ز نوٹرمین شامل تھے، جنہوں نے حال ہی میں K2، نانگا پربت، گاشربرم I اور II اور براڈ پیک کو سر کیا تھا، اسکے علاوہ تقریب میں پاکستان میں اگلے ماہ ٹریکنگ مہم کا آغاز کرنے والے ٹریکنگ گروپ کے ممبران نے بھی شرکت کی۔
اس موقع پر گفتگو کرتے ہوئے سفیر پاکستان نے دنیا میں سیاحت کے سب سے زیادہ مسابقتی مقام کے طور پر پاکستان کی صلاحیت کو اجاگر کیا۔ انہوں نے واضح کیا کہ پاکستان میں انتہائی خوبصورت اور غیر دریافت شدہ سیاحتی مقامات موجود ہیں۔ انہوں نے وضاحت کی کہ پاکستان کی سیاحتی صنعت نے سیاحتی انفراسٹرکچر اور سہولیات میں نمایاں ترقی کی ہے۔
گزشتہ ماہ ورلڈ اکنامک فورم (WEF) کی جانب سے جاری کی گئی رپورٹ کا حوالہ دیتے ہوئے، سفیر پاکستان نے کہا کہ پاکستان انٹرنیشنل ٹریول اینڈ ٹورازم ڈویلپمنٹ انڈیکس 2021 میں چھ پوائنٹس اوپر چلا گیا ہے۔یہ انڈیکس سیاحتی پالیسیوں کی مستحکم اور پائیدار ترقی کی بنیاد پر ممالک کی درجہ بندی کرتا ہے۔
انہوں نے کہا کہ بیلجیئم کے کوہ پیماؤں کی یہ مہم مقامی اور بین الاقوامی سیاحوں خصوصاً کوہ پیماؤں، ٹریکرز اور ایڈونچر سیاحوں کے لیے حوصلہ افزائی کا باعث بنے گی۔
تقریب کے دوران، کوہ پیماؤں نے K2، نانگا پربت، براڈ پیک، گاشربرم I اور II، بیافو گلیشیئر اور قراقرم کے پہاڑی سلسلے میں واقع برفیلی جھیلوں پر اپنے ذاتی کوہ پیمائی تجربات کے ساتھ ساتھ علاقے کی مہمان نواز مقامی آبادی کے ساتھ اپنی بات چیت کا بھی ذکر کیا۔ انہوں نے پاکستان میں اپنی کوہ پیمائی مہمات کی ویڈیو فلم بھی شیئر کیں۔
اس موقع پر نیلز جیسپرس نے کہا کہ “K2 دنیا کی سب سے پرکشش چوٹی ہے جسے سر کرنا ان کے لئے انتہائی خوشی کا باعث بننے والا ایک بہت بڑا خواب تھا۔” سوفی لینارٹ نے کہا کہ ان کے دورہ پاکستان کا سب سے بڑا صلہ یہ تھا کہ اس دورے کے ذریعے انکا پاکستان کے مہمان نواز مقامی لوگوں سے رابطہ قائم ہوا۔ جبکہ مسٹر جینز نے کہا کہ “پاکستان حیرت انگیز مہمان نوازی اور پرکشش مقامات کے ساتھ ایک پوشیدہ جوہر ہے۔ “
اس تقریب کا اہتمام پاکستان کے 75ویں یوم آزادی کی ڈائمنڈ جوبلی تقریبات کے ایک حصے کے طور پر کیا گیا تھا۔
